When I run Emacs (on my Gdium), Emacs immediately generates a warning saying:

Emergency (alloc): Warning: past 95% of memory limit

This appears in a buffer called *Warnings*, which is automatically popped up.

Here's one way to configure a keyboard shortcut for bringing up the main panel menu.

Press Fn + F11, i.e. "User 1".  This will bring up a dialog for configuring the User 1 and User 2 keys.  Then in the first text fields, remove the default and type "lxpanelctl menu".  Then Fn + F11 will pop up the panel menu.

I personally find the mouse movement too fast.  This is caused by the default configuration being 2x acceleration whenever the mouse moves more than 4 pixels:

[neil@gdium ~]$ xset q
...

Pointer Control:
acceleration:  2/1    threshold:  4

I needed to install several development-related packages, but with those in place I've successfully built Guile, which is my main free software project.

Well, my Gdium has just arrived, and I'm so excited to start playing with it...

But I can't!  Because the manual says I need to charge the battery for 4 hours first!

Is this really necessary?  As long as I make sure it's plugged into AC power for the next 4 hours, can I switch it on?

Here's hoping..........!  Please comment if you can help me out on this.

Neil
