Will national keyboard's for the Gdium netbook be available? It could be as an add-on. I think that people would pay more for having e.g. a Danish keyboard when living in Denmark. Not having national keyboard is one of the obstacles for adoption of netbooks by our children. we have no problems in purchasing the hardware in another country.

sorry the gdium will only work optimally with the 9V - moreover any voltage above 9.8V could damage some of the components inside the machine :)

Dear Gregg,
This is what we're aiming at. Right now only the wifi drivers still have some binaries included. We're in discussion with Ralink and hopefully will solve this soon.

Hi, when trying to register
Hi, when trying to register I noticed that I have to accept your terms and conditions written in French. While I understand mathematical and technical French quite well (read Bourbaki while a student of math), I'm not sure what all those legal terms are meaning. One point that made me sit up is your company being registered in Luxembourg but you chose french law and and court in Paris in case of legal dispute. It's not that I expect legal problems but I'd like you to explain where this difference in location comes from. Thanks Siggy (DD '95-'04)

Dear Siggy, you can find the ToS in English right here. Apparently there is a link problem in the English registration form. I guess the difference in location is because the legal team is in Paris and it is more convenient for them. I hope this addresses both questions.

I'm very happy to have a new Gdium machine. I found a root prompt by digging down into the system menu. Is there any way to put a command prompt on the desktop? I would also like to disable the desklets permanently. Even if I delete them, when I reboot they come back. In general, I'd like to do some more customization of the desktop but haven't been able to find a way. Is the desktop appearance fairly rigid, or can it be changed? If not, I know I can make a new stick with Kubuntu and get a KDE desktop that is closer to what I am familiar with. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.
OK, it's tomorrow and I did some more hunting around the site and found out I could assign the command to run an xterm to a function key. If that's something you need to do, the instructions are here: http://www.gdium.com/en/product/blog
"...two of the function keys have been reserved to launch custom applications of your choice (they are they 2 fn keys marked User1 & User2). In order to set up those keys one simply need to invoke them a first time (Fn+User1 or Fn+User2) and the configuration menu will popup." Type in the command you want to run ( I typed a simple <xterm>) and next time you use the function key it will give you an x terminal.

Hi Paul,
Glad you like your machine. If you're into hacking I strongly recommend you to visit the olph community and IRC channel. You can find a wiki, bug tracker, forum, mailing list and losts of other guys like you who enjoy moding the "beast"! OLPH home page is http://olph.gdium.com (and IRC is on freenode #gdium).
