Designed by the same team as the Gdium Liberty (beware, the website is written all in Chinese…) for indoor and outdoor use, they form an elegant, smart and functional set, made to enjoy Gdium Liberty 1000 while you are on the road, at home or at the office. Most of these accessories will be available at the launch of Gdium Liberty 1000 early December in France, except the DVB-T dongle.

  • An 2,5″ external hard drive, G-HDD is available in 160, 250 and 320 GB, with a separate G-Movie Cube multimedia docking station. Just take G-HDD along with you anywhere and enjoy additional storage space in a pocket form factor to store films, photos or music, basically all your heavy files.Once at home, simply plug it onto G-Movie Cube multimedia docking station to play your audio and video files directly on your TV or Hi-Fi system. No need for other cables or plugs !
  • 400 and 500 GB G-HDD models will complete the range as from January 2009.

  • G-Bluetooth, 2.1 EDR micro dongle with up to 10m transmission range.
  • DG-DVBT dongle, a smart accessory to watch digital TV channels directly on Liberty 1000, will be available early January 2009.

  • G-Internet Headset, to enjoy VoIP or other multimedia functions.
  • G-Mouse, simple and essential.

G-Bag collection for carrying and protecting your Gdium and accessories:

  • Among the transport bags for city, school and business, the G-Messenger has 3 large compartments and a small pocket specially made for G-Key, and comes in 4 different colors.
  • G-Pouch, an accessory pouch with 9 small, closing pockets to protect your memory cards, USB keys, power supply…

@Alejandro: thanks for the congratulations... and for your patience! We've just migrated to the "real" gdium.com (well, at least its first version!) today. Some of the pictures were on the old gdium.com and now they should be on the new one too. See you around!

When will these accessories

When will these accessories be available? The bluetooth is usb? Will it work in any laptop?

by Anónimo (not verified) January 13, 2009 - 18:49

Accessories will be available

Accessories will be available at the same moment as the Gdium Liberty as they really form a complete universe. And that is very soon in France and Belgium and then in other European countries. The Bluetooth is a really small USB micro dongle (it does not appear on the picture, the 2 keys in the front are DVB-T dongles) and work on other laptops.

Congrats on the new

Congrats on the new netbook... I especially like it because it has a G on the cover, the first letter in my name :D I read that the initial memory would only be 512mb... any plans to offer at least 1GB? Also, I like the idea of including Mandriva Linux instead of the evil MS Windows..... does this mean the the Gdium Liberty will be fully certified/compatible with other Linux distros such as PCLinuxOS, Ubuntu, SuSe...etc? Will you be offering a long-life battery... something that would give maybe 7-8 hours of battery life (with wifi on)? My only disappointment is the screen resolution.... I was hoping that yu would be the first to offer 720p resolution, since I've tested other Atom based netbooks with 720p h264(MKV) video running under MPlayer and they work quite well (despite CPU usage being a bit high). I live in Singapore... will you be releasing it in the South-east Asian region? Once again, congratulations and best of luck to you.

Dear Gan, let me try to

Dear Gan, let me try to address each question and bring a bit of clarifications. Using Linux means the machine will run very well with 512MiB of RAM. Should the price of RAM decrease it's definitely an option we will consider. Now as you may have noticed the Gdium is powered by a MIPS cpu meaning that Windows will not run on it. It also means that Linux distributions that do not natively support this architecture will need to be ported in some ways. Debian for exemple already support MIPS. Mandriva has been tweaked and ported to MIPS for the Gdium and for other distributions some contributors from the OLPH program are actually working on porting other distributions. In order to have longer battery life on the default battery we have a solution that does not allow to put a bigger battery, everything comes with a trade off and we have chosen to give more as default rather than sell bigger batteries. Same thing for the resolution, it's hard to have a cheap netbook with all the latest technology included, we've already chosen 10" (where the LCD is a lot more expensive that 7"ou 8.9") to give better reading comfort and a bigger keyboard. The machine will be available in APAC probably by the end of the year. We're focusing on some specific markets for the launch and will expand with success.

Not very promising indeed to

Not very promising indeed to be delayed that much. Any news when it’s released at last to hear the comments of first time users?

If you followed a bit on the

If you followed a bit on the product blog you'd know some people (OLPH) already have them. In fact we've been doing some limited releases to specific groups to get initial feedbacks and improve on that. So I do believe it's a very promising product and project. Now if a few months delay can help to deliver something better I believe it is the right thing to do.

What is the ETA for the Gdium

What is the ETA for the Gdium now?

Last post here was 3 months ago and it says a few months delay.

The only think I wish for this product is easy access to the ram a la Dell Mini 9, not like the Acer One nightmare.

Sell 512mb to keep the price low, Ihave no problem with that. Just dont make it a pain in the ass for those of us who want to add more ram.

thanks.

Dear Paul,

The product has been available in Belgium since end of February and in France since early May. Other countries are starting to receive their gdiums and they should be in stores in the coming weeks such as Italy, USA and Spain.
