Availability of the Gdium
3 September 2008 – 17:10 by LeelooYou are all excited about the Gdium, and that’s right you should be.
As we aim for the best user experience possible (and we encountered some problems with the FlashLite integration on Firefox, now resolved), we decided to delay a bit our final launch.
Just know that the Gdium will be available in France at the end of September 2008, through specialized outlets.
As far as Europe distribution is concerned, our netbooks will arrive in November.
We are planning to distribute our Gdium Liberty 1000 in the United States and China after our European Launch.
Stay tuned.

Are there any programs available for early adopters / beta testers (in our case, in the US)?

Correct me if I’m wrong, but this system smells like an ideal CyberCafé machine.
I am interested in availability in the Congo (or in France) & possible early testing to fit this into a Cybercafé infrastructure.

We are deciding on US launch depending on unit availability. Right now, unfortunately, we cannot be very specific about the date, but we will provide the units for early adopters. So, the message for now is “please stay tuned!.”

What about pricing? Also, what if you lose the key?
By Rajiv on Sep 6, 2008
@Chris, you just point it right. With our design, users can have their own GKeys on the go, while a place like a cybercafé can have a certain number of Gdium’s to use. Anyone coming in the café can then insert the Gkey in and start working on the Gdium. Units will arrive in France end of Sep.
@Rajiv, well you do not want to lose your key
I you do though, restore will be available from the support part of the educational and community site we are putting together (the future gdium.com) or from another USB key on which you have copied the original one, or from a DVD that will be included in the package when you’ll buy a Gdium Liberty.

Hello,
Is the Gdium available now ? Where can I buy it ?
Regarding other’s vendors offers, have you upgraded the hardware specs or decreased the price ? Do you intend to do it ?

I just arrived in Paris, and will be here for the next 2 weeks.
Where can I go to see and/buy a Gdium?

surcouf.com says that shipping happens in 1-2 weeks after buying it, and there is no review done yet…. is it really already available?

@collinm, consider the G-Key as a way to make your machine evolve into higher capacities only that changing the key. The maximum ram the Gdium Liberty 1000 supports is 2GB.
@Maurice, yes you can buy the G-Key alone and use it on Gdium to share the machine between different users. If you want to use the G-Key on your current desktop though, I would recommend you use one of our current Em-Desk USB keys, because they run on x86 machines, whereas G-Key runs on MIPS machines.

These mobile offices do provide a personal and safe environment to their users, as the applications run on the key, and do not affect the host machine register table.
Concerning G-Key, we are working on a dual-boot system, but it will not be available at first release, early December in Europe.
